MusicTime Deluxe Reviewer's Comments

MusicTime Deluxe is a simple program to use that includes a handy toolbar that makes creating a score as easy as possible. The downfall to this software is a limited number of staves, only 16, so you are limited to the number of scores you can import and compose.

Ease of Use:  

This is the category where MusicTime Deluxe shines. Without even looking at the manual, we could create a score by using the toolbar options. Many palettes make it easy to compose a piece.

The only feature that gave us grief was the volume control. Even after reading the manual and making appropriate changes, we still couldn't get the volume to work.

Feature Set:  

MusicTime software includes sample files and metronome to help you compose music

The limited number of staves per system is a real disadvantage to this program—some scores that we tried to download were too big for this software.

Ease of Installation:  

We didn't have any problems while installing MusicTime Deluxe.

It takes up to 2 days to get a login and a password so you can email a question to tech support. This could be frustrating if you have a question you want answered immediately.

Input/Output Capabilities:  

This program was designed for music notation only and doesn't have the capability to record vocals to the music. The MIDI input was flawless and notates in real-time as you are playing the keyboard. You can also input notes through the computer keyboard.

Editing:  

This program doesn't offer punch recording but it has excellent note editing capabilities. You can enter the notes quickly and easily. There are enough palettes to get the job done, but not to many to overwhelm the screen.

Help/Support:  

Overall, the help and support are great. They have an extensive tutorial in their manual and offer a knowledge base, which answers most common questions.

The program supports most current operating systems including MAC.

Summary:  

This program is very easy to use and would be great for the average person who only wants to notate small scores, and it comes with a reasonable price tag.
